The teen soap dropped another Congressional reference in Monday night’s episode, marking the second mention of a Member of Congress on the show in as many weeks. Referring to the ruthlessness of Manhattan debutantes, a group personified by her best pal Blair Waldorf, Serena tells the Congressman that “Joe Wilson has nothing on Blair Waldorf.— That would be our very own Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.), who catapulted to pop-culture status when he heckled President Barack Obama during an address to Congress. Wilson now joins Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), whose name has come up on at least two previous episodes of “Gossip Girl,— including last week’s installment.Looks like “GG— is giving some XOXO to Congress.
