Clyburn Polling Members on Saturday Availability

House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) is polling Members to see whether they will be available for Saturday votes. An e-mail sent from Clyburn’s office to Democratic offices seeks a reply by 2 p.m. Monday.Democratic leaders want to adjourn for the year by Friday, if not sooner, but some are already signaling that Friday may be too soon to finish everything.“That is my hope. It may not be my expectation,— House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said late last week about the prospect of wrapping up all business by the end of this week.Bills that still require House action include the Defense spending bill, a jobs package and a short-term continuing resolution to keep the government funded beyond Dec. 18, when current funding runs out. In addition, the House is awaiting Senate action on health care reform legislation.
