Maryland Congresswoman’s PAC Gives to Illinois Candidate

Rep. Donna Edwards (D-Md.) has given $1,000 to the Senate campaign of former Chicago Urban League President Cheryle Robinson Jackson, according to a recent report filed with the Federal Election Commission.

Jackson is running in the Feb. 2 Democratic primary, in which state Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias (D) is widely considered to be the frontrunner.

Although Jackson has earned the endorsements of Democratic Reps. Reps. Bobby Rush and Danny Davis, public polling has shown her trailing Giannoulias.

Former Chicago Inspector General David Hoffman and attorney Jacob Meister are also running. Rep. Mark Kirk (R) is running in the GOP primary with several little-known candidates and he is widely expected to win the nomination next month.

The Edwards donation was made through her Leadership That Listens PAC.
