Perlmutter Not Running For Governor

Rep. Ed Perlmutter (D-Colo.) will seek re-election in the Denver-area 7th district and will not run for governor.

Perlmutter told the Denver Post on Monday that he was “flattered” to be mentioned as a potential candidate to succeed retiring Gov. Bill Ritter (D), but that “my job right now is to represent the Seventh [Congressional District] and do my darnedest to get re-elected.”

Perlmutter’s decision was not a surprise. He is better-positioned to win re-election in the 7th district, which includes some Democratic-leaning suburbs of Denver, than he is to win a campaign for governor.
