Massachusetts: $1.3 Million In a Day for GOP’s Brown

The underdog Republican found a final-week bounty for his campaign to win the Senate seat of the late Edward M. Kennedy. GOP candidate Scott Brown said Tuesday that his campaign raised more than $1.3 million in a single day via the web — an enormous boost going into Massachusetts’ special election on Jan. 19.

“As the political machine in both Massachusetts and Washington lines up behind my opponent, the donations we received yesterday from small donors and everyday people will help ensure our message is heard during the campaign’s closing days,” Brown, a state senator, said in a news release.

State Attorney General Martha Coakley, a Democrat, is considered the frontrunner in the race.
