Anti-Abortion Activists Gin Up Support for Rally

An anti-abortion-rights coalition is gearing up for next week’s March for Life, an annual Washington, D.C., grass-roots lobbying event that has drawn millions of protesters since it began in 1974.With contentious abortion-related provisions being debated in the health care bills, the Stop the Abortion Mandate coalition told its members Friday that “there has never been a more important time in history for pro-life Americans to come and flood the streets of Washington, D.C.— on Jan. 22.“The importance of coming to Washington, D.C. to march this year cannot be overstated enough,— the organization told its members. The coalition also released a four-minute Web video on Friday to rally participants “to voice their opposition to abortion coverage in the health care bill at this very crucial time.—“Do whatever it takes to get to Washington, D.C. on Friday, January 22,— Day Gardner, president of the National Black Pro-Life Union, says in the YouTube video. “This may be our last chance to publicly stand up against abortion in health care.—
