House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) has hired Republican Study Committee spokesman Brendan Buck as communications director for legislative initiatives.

In his new role, Buck will help “to advance Republican solutions and policy alternatives,” according to Boehner. He will also assist Chief Deputy Whip Kevin McCarthy (Calif.) in crafting a new Republican agenda.

“Brendan has distinguished himself as one of the best communications staffers on the Hill, and I’m excited he’ll be joining the leadership staff team at this important time for our country,” Boehner said in a statement.

Prior to his role as communications director for RSC Chairman Tom Price (Ga.), Buck served as a spokesman for the National Republican Congressional Committee.
