Here’s the hot-on-Facebook list for the past week: Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio), Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) and Rep. Paul Kanjorski (D-Pa.).

[IMGCAP(1)]Thune and Boehner added the most followers of any lawmakers in their respective chambers, while Lincoln and Kanjorski added the biggest percentage. The stats are compiled at ohmygov.com, which is tracking who’s up and who’s down on a weekly basis.

And it looks like Republicans are dominating the social media site — seven of the top eight spots on the list for the most new followers are GOPers. (Speaker Nancy Pelosi is the only Democrat to crack the top eight.) Another fun-but-not-surprising fact: Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) has 189,306 followers, walloping everyone else on the list. (To put that number in context, Pelosi has only 18,634.)

Another way Congress is exactly like high school — it’s always a popularity contest.
