Obama to Lend Support to Florida Democrats

Updated: 2:36 p.m.

Florida Democratic lawmakers are lining up to share the stage with President Barack Obama as he heads to Miami on Thursday to raise money for their party.

Obama is scheduled to hit two Democratic National Committee fundraisers in the evening, one at a private residence and another at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, where he will deliver remarks. Florida Democratic Reps. Kendrick Meek, who is running for Senate, Allen Boyd, Ron Klein, Suzanne Kosmas and Debbie Wasserman Schultz are all expected to be at one or both of the events.

Earlier in the day, Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Fla.) will also make an appearance with Obama during his speech about the future of human space flight at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral.

Nelson and Kosmas accompanied Obama on Air Force One on his flight to Florida.

Vice President Joseph Biden is also hitting the road Thursday to help raise the profile of a Democratic House candidate in Pennsylvania. Biden will attend an event for Bethlehem Mayor John Callahan, who is running for the House seat held Rep. Charlie Dent (R).
