Alabama: New Sewell Spot Opens Planned Month of Ads

Attorney Terri Sewell is putting her huge cash advantage to use in the crowded open-seat 7th district Democratic primary.

Sewell’s campaign went up Monday with a 30-second broadcast television buy that will stay up through the June 1 election. Sewell previously had been advertising on cable television and radio.

She held a more than 3-1 fundraising advantage over state Rep. Earl Hilliard Jr. (D) at the end of March. She also has the backing of EMILY’s List.

Hilliard has the endorsement of the Congressional Black Caucus political action committee and has found a key ally in Rep. Bennie Thompson (D), who represents Mississippi’s 2nd district just over the border.

Hilliard is in the field with radio ads but has yet to go on television.
