Pelosi Meets Troops, Karzai in Afghanistan

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and a four-member Congressional delegation met Saturday with U.S. troops serving in Afghanistan, and their top commander, Gen. Stanley McChrystal. The delegation also met with Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

On Friday, Pelosi and the delegation visited with troops in Qatar, which hosts a major U.S. base involved in operations in both Afghanistan and Iraq. The delegation also met with that country’s leader, Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa.

Pelosi was accompanied on the Mothers Day weekend trip by Reps. Susan Davis (D-Calif.), Niki Tsongas (D-Mass.) and Donna Edwards (D-Md.) and Del. Madeleine Bordallo (D-Guam).
