Pennsylvania: Toomey Goes Positive With First Commercial

Eight days before Pennsylvania’s primary election, former Rep. Pat Toomey (R) went on the air with his first advertisement of the campaign.

Toomey is virtually guaranteed to get the GOP nomination, and the airwaves have been dominated by the attack ads that two Democrats — Sen. Arlen Specter and Rep. Joe Sestak — are running against each other.

Toomey’s ad stands out because it strikes a positive tone, presenting him as a “small-business man” who “puts principles ahead of party-line obedience.”

Toomey spokeswoman Nachama Soloveichik called the ad buy “sizable,” but she provided no other details.
