Castellani Takes Helm of PhRMA

The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America has named John Castellani as its new president and CEO, the drug lobby announced Tuesday.

Castellani, president of the Business Roundtable, succeeds outgoing PhRMA head former Rep. Billy Tauzin (R-La.), who started in 2005.

After working closely with Democrats on their historic health care overhaul, Tauzin, a former Energy and Commerce Committee chairman, resigned in February but has remained with the organization on an interim basis.

Castellani will start Sept. 1.
