Rep. John Adler (D-N.J.) voted for his own budget-cutting proposal after all.

House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.) criticized Adler on Wednesday for refusing to work with Republicans to bring Adler’s proposal to the floor. It would eliminate the Advance Earned Income Tax Credit, saving the federal government $1.1 billion. The proposal won the weekly online “YouCut” poll sponsored by Cantor.

Cantor’s procedural effort was defeated 231-179, but Adler was among 12 Democrats to back the effort. He voted near the end of the voting period, according to Cantor’s office.
