Clinton Calls Meek ‘the Real Democrat’ in Robocall

Former President Bill Clinton is going all out for Florida Rep. Kendrick Meek ahead of the competitive Democratic Senate primary on Tuesday.

Meek’s campaign on Friday launched a statewide robocall recorded by Clinton in which the former president reminds voters that he and President Barack Obama are firmly in Meek’s corner in his race against billionaire real estate investor Jeff Greene.

“He’s the Real Democrat in the race,” Clinton says of Meek in the call. “The only one with a record of working hard to make all our lives better every day. … He’ll make us all proud because he’ll make a real difference.”

Clinton has been Meek’s top cheerleader on the campaign trail and has held multiple fundraisers and events for the Congressman. Still, Greene has used his vast personal resources to outspend Meek by a more than 3-to-1 margin in the primary. Although Meek is favored to win on Tuesday, he’ll still face an uphill challenge in a general election that features Gov. Charlie Crist (I) and former state Speaker Marco Rubio (R).
