Libertarians Won’t Allow Murkowski to Run as One of Them
The Alaska Libertarian Party has decided not to allow Sen. Lisa Murkowski to run on the party’s line in the general election, party Vice Chairman Harley Brown told Roll Call.
“We’ve unanimously decided not to allow Murkowski to run on the Alaska Libertarian Party line in November,” Brown said.
The five-member board made the decision Sunday, and Chairman Scott Kohlhaas was preparing to make the announcement Monday. Current Libertarian nominee David Haase will remain the nominee, Brown said.
Should Murkowski lose the GOP primary to Fairbanks attorney Joe Miller, running as a Libertarian or write-in would be her only options to win the general election.
Miller currently holds a 1,668-vote lead, though the state will begin counting thousands of absentee and questioned ballots this week.
