New York: Hoffman Will Stay on November Ballot

Businessman Matt Doheny’s GOP primary victory Tuesday night sets up Republicans for a case of déjà vu in the 23rd district.

Despite his defeat in the GOP primary, accountant Doug Hoffman’s name will appear on the November ballot as the Conservative Party candidate.

That could create the same scenario that helped Rep. Bill Owens (D) win last year’s special election against Hoffman and Republican nominee Dede Scozzafava. Owens is running again.

Hoffman has not yet said whether he will actively campaign as a Conservative Party alternative to Doheny.
