Cantor to Stump for Shuler’s Opponent

The House’s No. 2 Republican will campaign in Western North Carolina on Tuesday for GOP challenger Jeff Miller, who is trying to oust sophomore Democrat Heath Shuler.

Minority Whip Eric Cantor is scheduled to attend a get-out-the-vote rally with Miller on Tuesday afternoon in Hendersonville.

Cantor is not the only heavy hitter to take part in the Tar Heel State’s 11th district contest. Two days after the Virginia lawmaker’s visit, former President Bill Clinton is slated to campaign on behalf of Shuler in the district.

Another top House Republican, Chief Deputy Minority Whip Kevin McCarthy (Calif.), visited the district in August to aid Miller’s campaign.
