HOH’s One-Minute Recess: Senators’ Wives: They’re Just Like Us

We’re guessing that many Capitol Hill denizens faced travel woes this holiday season — and on top of it, they had to pay those annoying airline baggage fees.

As it turns out, even one of the Senate’s most famous spouses isn’t immune.

Cindy McCain, wife of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), is headed to Washington to watch her husband be sworn in Wednesday. While the purpose of her trip is pretty uncommon, she still had to pay a fee to check her luggage.

“Curbside to check my bag with US Airways. Not only paid for the bag, but had to pay for the privilege of checking the bag on the curb. Woah,” McCain tweeted Tuesday morning, adding in another tweet: “Does US Airways charge for using the restroom on board?”

HOH feels for McCain, as paying those fees is pretty obnoxious. But we note that it shouldn’t hurt her wallet too much, considering her net worth has been estimated at more than $100 million.
