Romney Adds Saul to Communications Team
As he staffs up for an all but certain presidential run, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) has hired Andrea Saul to serve as a communications adviser to his Free and Strong America political action committee.
Saul served as press secretary last year for former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina’s (R) unsuccessful Senate bid in California and was communications director for former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist before he left the GOP to run for Senate as an independent. She was previously on the communications team for Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and was an associate account executive at DCI Group.
With two months to go until the first Republican presidential debate, potential candidates are likely to begin taking official steps toward running. Former Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) is expected to formally announce today that he is exploring a run for president.
And the Hotline reported Wednesday that former Louisiana Gov. Buddy Roemer (R) will go a step further today, announcing the formation of an presidential exploratory committee.
Meanwhile, Romney has been reaching out to Members of Congress through his PAC, donating more than $200,000 to their campaigns in the first two months of 2011.
Gingrich has also been reaching out to Members, especially his former House colleagues and members of the Georgia GOP delegation.
