Clinton Says ‘No’ to Second Term

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton doesn’t want to serve a second term in her job and isn’t interested in running for president, she told CNN on Wednesday.

During an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer in Cairo, Clinton said that if President Barack Obama is re-elected in 2012, she isn’t interested in keeping her post for another four years. The 2008 presidential candidate and former Senator also shot down rumors about becoming Defense secretary and running for president in 2016.

“You know, I had a wonderful experience running [for president] and I am very proud of the support I had and very grateful for the opportunity, but I’m going to be, you know, moving on,” Clinton said, according to a transcript of the interview.

Clinton said she currently has “the best job I could ever have,” and there isn’t “anything that I can imagine doing after this that would be as demanding, as challenging or rewarding.” Not even being the president, she added.

Supporters who want her to run for president in 2016 are “very kind,” Clinton said, but she is doing what she wants to do for now.

“I have no intention or any idea even of running again,” she said. “I’m going to do the best I can at this job for the next two years.”

The interview is scheduled to air at 5 p.m. EST Wednesday.
