On Wednesday, the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee uploaded a series of pictures to his Twitter feed.

No, silly, not those kinds of pictures! Chairman Darrell Issa live-tweeted shots of the Republican meeting with President Barack Obama — a meeting that was quite pointedly closed to the press.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney was asked in his Wednesday briefing if he felt the California Republican’s actions were a “breach of the closed nature of [the] meeting.”

“We obviously closed it to the press because we felt that would be more conducive to having a useful conversation,” Carney said. “What individual Members did is obviously up to them.”

However, he also said that he was “fine” about Issa’s Twitpics.

“We’re glad you’re fine,” the reporter said. “Is the president fine with it?”

Carney ignored the question.

“I was just doing my part to open up government for the citizen-watchdogs following the meeting on Twitter,” Issa explains to HOH. “But I accept that the shots I took aren’t nearly as attention-grabbing as another picture tweeted from a Member of Congress’ account.”

It’s true, dear readers. Rep. Donna Edwards’ (D-Md.) Twitpic of the snake in her garden was absolutely shocking.
