LeMieux Raises $950,000 in 2nd Quarter
Former Florida Sen. George LeMieux (R), who is campaigning to get his old job back, raised more than $950,000 in the second quarter, his campaign said Monday.
“I am honored to have earned the confidence and trust of so many Floridians,” LeMieux said in a statement headlined “LeMieux Wins Fundraising Quarter.”
LeMieux was appointed to the Senate in September 2009 to fill the remainder of the term of former Sen. Mel Martinez (R). He did not seek election to a full term in November 2010.
“With contributors from all over Florida, George’s campaign continues to strengthen and his grassroots momentum is reflected in his fundraising success,” campaign manager Brian Seitchik wrote in an email to supporters.
LeMieux faces former Florida House Majority Leader Adam Hasner, Florida Senate President Mike Haridopolos, and retired Army Col. Mike McCalister in the Republican primary to take on two-term Sen. Bill Nelson (D). Former Ruth’s Chris CEO Craig Miller is expected to announce his candidacy this week.
Hasner raised more than $560,000 in the second quarter while Haridopolos posted more than $900,000 raised. McCalister does not appear to have released his fundraising numbers yet.
