Allen West Challenger Raised More Than $440K

Roll Call has learned that former West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel raised more than $440,000 in the second quarter of this year in her campaign against Rep. Allen West (R) in Florida’s 22nd Congressional district.

Frankel’s opponent in the Democratic primary, businessman Patrick Murphy, raised $450,000 in the second quarter. West raised more than $1.5 million in April, May and June.

“We are working hard to make sure we have the resources necessary to communicate our message to voters in South Florida and send Congressman Allen West packing,” Frankel said in a statement that will be released later Wednesday.

Whether Frankel or Murphy takes on West, it is likely to be one of the most hotly contested races of the cycle.

The Frankel campaign has not yet released a cash-on-hand number for the quarter.
