HOH’s One-Minute Recess: The Home Fires Burning for Conyers

Poor Rep. John Conyers.

First, the state economy falls apart around the Michigan Democrat.

Then a reporter from a local Fox News affiliate compares his home to the area’s crumbling economy.

Earlier this summer, reporter Charlie LeDuff did a short piece about the Congressman’s house, which is located next to a local golf course in Detroit.

The shots of the house, which can be seen from the fifth hole of the course, according to the video, show peeling paint, unmowed grass and a falling awning.

“The Congressman is up in D.C. doing whatever it is Congressmen do up there,” LeDuff says in the video.

LeDuff spoke with Conyers’ son (who accused the reporter of trespassing), and the grass was mowed the next day.

Word to the Conyers: We know you’re busy doing what Congressmen do (vote on bills that become laws, etc.), but maybe the local kids could mow the grass weekly or paint the walls or something.

A spokesman from Conyers’ office couldn’t be reached for comment.
