Happy Hours and Other Quake Specials on Hill
Capitol Hill restaurants and bars know the drill:
Keep on keeping on.
A number of food and drink spots announced Tuesday that they would be open after a 5.8-magnitude earthquake rattled the East Coast early in the afternoon.
At Pound Coffee (621 Pennsylvania Ave. SE), fraps and smoothies would be 50 percent off until 5 p.m. because “we were as freaked out as you by that,” the shop’s Twitter feed said.
At the Ugly Mug (723 Eighth St. SE), the bartender plans to serve earthquake shooters for $5 after 5 p.m.
Sonoma Restaurant and Wine Bar’s happy hour has started early. It includes $3 Peroni, $5 house wine and $5 signature cocktails until 7 p.m.
Capitol Lounge employees (231 Pennsylvania Ave. SE) tweeted that the business was open and accepting nominations for quake specials, though a manager said they weren’t doing anything besides their regular Tuesday wing night (25 cents a wing).
