London Sushi Chain Coming to Union Station

A London-based sushi chain will open its first U.S. restaurant in Union Station early next year.

YO! Sushi, known for serving its food via conveyor belt, will be located across from the Chipotle Mexican Grill, according to a statement. The restaurant will serve sushi rolls, sashimi, salads and a variety of other Japanese dishes.

Owner Richard Pawlowski, who also owns a number of Qdoba Mexican Grills and Cosi restaurants in the area, plans to open an additional nine YO! Sushi locations around the mid-Atlantic region, from Washington, D.C., to Philadelphia.

“I’m confident that the YO! Sushi brand will take off in D.C. and in the rest of the U.S.,” he said in the release.

He will work with Darren Wightman, who served as the executive chef for YO! Sushi and ran locations in the United Kingdom.

YO! Sushi first opened in London in 1997 and incorporates the popular Japanese method of using a conveyor belt to deliver sushi to customers around the restaurant.
