Heard on the Hill: Plenty of Pizza in Hill’s Kitchen

Pizza — food of the gods — is finally taking its rightful place in the middle of the political arena.

During the past few weeks, a clip of embattled GOP presidential candidate and former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain singing about pizza has surfaced. Last week, Cain impersonator, former boxing champ and “Hangover” star Mike Tyson dubbed Thursday as Pizza Pthursday in honor of that most delicious of foods.

And now pizzeria owner Rep. Bobby Schilling (R-Ill.) is raising money off his pizza prowess.

Schilling has invited supporters, including House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and House Small Business Chairman Sam Graves (R-Mo.), to come make pizza with him at Hill’s Kitchen on Nov. 16.

The Congressman is having the freshest ingredients flown in straight from Moline, Ill., where he owns, and somehow finds the time to operate, St. Giuseppe’s Heavenly Pizza.

Schilling is asking those interested in co-hosting his pizza party to fork over $2,500 for the privilege. No word on whether the pizza maestros at nearby Seventh Hill will be attending.
