Three GOP Candidates Seek Pennsylvania 4th District Seat
Three GOP candidates indicated this week that they will seek the seat of retiring Rep. Todd Platts (R-Pa.): state Rep. Scott Perry, York County Commissioner Chris Reilly and attorney Sean Summers.
The south-central Pennsylvania district is a safe GOP seat, and the winner of the primary will most likely be Platts’ successor. Perry estimated he’ll need at least $500,000 to compete in the April 24 primary.
“We’re thinking about $500,000 — $750,000, if it gets really ugly,” Perry told Roll Call.
Local Republicans say other lesser-known GOP candidates are still pondering bids. But they also caution the field might not be too large given the timing of Platts’ retirement announcement, which came less than a month before the Feb. 14 filing deadline.
