Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will campaign and fundraise for embattled Sen. Dick Lugar (R-Ind.) this weekend.

The six-term Senator announced Wednesday that Rice will be in Indianapolis this weekend to attend Lugar’s reception and the Super Bowl.

“Dick Lugar has proven his ability to be a positive force for our American principles and for our party,” Rice said. “As such, I am proud to support his bid for re-election.”

Lugar faces a tough challenge from state Treasurer Richard Mourdock in the May 8 primary.

Rice served in President George W. Bush’s Cabinet.
