Eric Cantor: House GOP to Focus on Small-Business Measures
Majority Leader Eric Cantor said House Republicans will push for two measures to benefit small-business owners in the coming weeks.
In an interview on “Fox News Sunday,” the Virginia Republican said there is a “window of opportunity for us to get something done” to boost the economy.
The first proposal is designed to make financing easier for small businesses and reduce regulations that affect them.
Cantor said it draws on bipartisan ideas suggested by President Barack Obama’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness.
“This package represents the first opportunity for us … to work together in a bipartisan manner to get something done,” he said.
The second proposal would cut taxes on small businesses by 20 percent.
Cantor said the money would go “straight to the bottom line” and make it easier for small businesses to start up.
