Marco Rubio Mum on Veep Talk
Updated: 12:13 p.m.
Sen. Marco Rubio said today that he will not talk about his vice presidential prospects.
In an appearance on “Meet the Press” to plug his new book, “An American Son,” the junior Florida Senator was asked about the possibility of being vice president.
Earlier this week, presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney said his vice presidential search team was “thoroughly” vetting Rubio.
Host David Gregory pressed Rubio, playing a clip from a 2011 appearance in which he said he would not be vice president.
“I’m not discussing the vice presidential process any more,” Rubio said. “I made the decision two months ago not to discuss it any further. I think, by the way, other people that have been speculated about are doing the exact same thing and wisely so.”
Later, he added that he would support the eventual pick.
“I am confident based on his lifelong record of making good decisions that Mitt Romney is going to make a great selection for vice president,” Rubio said.
