As the saying goes, there are only two ways to run a race: scared or unopposed.

There is no fear among the candidates running to lead the New Hampshire Democratic Party. Not one of them had an opponent after the filing period last week, according to a release from the party.

• Ray Buckley will coast to a fourth term as chairman. Prior to this position, Buckley served four terms as his party’s vice chairman as well as 18 years in the New Hampshire State House.

• State Sen. Martha Fuller Clark will have a fourth term as 1st vice chairwoman. She serves as assistant Democratic leader in the state Senate, and she is a member of the Democratic National Committee.

•Dorothy Solomon will have a third term as 2nd vice chairwoman.

•State Sen. Bette Lasky will have a second term as her party’s secretary.

•Brian Rapp will get a full term as treasurer. He was elected to the position last year.

• Former state Rep. Dan McKenna will start as the state party’s legal counsel.

Also, Buckley appointed former state Sen. Deborah Reynolds, an attorney, to be the state party’s finance chairwoman.

Party faithful will elect these officials at a Match 9 state committee meeting.

On the Wooters Front

Longtime Democratic strategist CR Wooters has joined Mehlman Vogel Castagnetti.

Wooters comes from Purple Strategies, according to an announcement issued by his new firm. Previously , Wooters served as chief of staff to House Budget Chairman Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., and Rep. Louise M. Slaughter, D-N.Y.

“CR is a rare breed in Washington, someone who understands both politics and policy,” David Castagnetti, co-founding partner of the firm, said in a statement.

Also on Capitol Hill, Wooters helped initiate a Member Services program for House Democrats ahead of the 2010 cycle. In 2008, he ran the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s Frontline program to protect incumbents.

Ward-ing Off Democratic Gains

William “Ward” Wyatt will serve as the new executive director of the West Virginia Republican Party.

“Ward will be an incredible asset to lead our team,” Conrad Lucas, chairman of the party, said in a statement.

A Texas native, Wyatt worked in the Lone Star State’s capital before moving to West Virginia. Wyatt’s father, Joseph P. Wyatt Jr., served in Congress for a single term in 1979 as a Democrat from Texas.

Cold Spark Plugs in Toomey Aide

Nachama Soloveichik has joined Cold Spark Media as a vice president in their new Washington, D.C., office.

Soloveichik has served as a top communications aide for Sen. Patrick J. Toomey, R-Pa., for many years.

She worked on his 2010 campaign and, most recently, in his Senate office. Prior to his campaign, she served as the chief spokeswoman for the Club for Growth when Toomey ran the conservative group.

Mark Harris, Toomey’s former campaign manager, co-founded Cold Spark Media. The Pittsburgh-based firm also served as general consultants for the GOP’s nominee for Senate in 2012, former coal company executive Tom Smith.

Patrick’s Day

GOP state Rep. Andy Patrick has hired two consultants with ties to former Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., to aid his exploratory campaign in South Carolina’s 1st District.

•Matt Beynon will handle press for Patrick’s bid. He is currently president of Madison Strategic Ventures and served as deputy national communications director for Santorum’s presidential campaign.

•RightOn Strategies will be Patrick’s general consultants, with a team that includes Mike Biundo, Derek Dufresne and Kory Wood. Biundo served as Santorum’s campaign manager in his presidential race.

•Robert “RJ” May will perform grass-roots and community outreach for Patrick. Previously, May worked for Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., as his political director.

Patrick is seeking the House seat vacated by Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C.

Many Republicans are running in the special election for the seat, including former Gov. Mark Sanford.
