The following people have been hired as staff members for Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas:

Brooke Bacak is legislative director. Bacak was assistant dean at the University of Alabama’s school of law. She also has served as chief counsel for the Republican staff on the Senate Judiciary Committee. She also has worked as a judicial policy analyst and counsel for the Senate Republican Policy Committee.

Catherine Frazier is press secretary. She was press secretary to Republican Gov. Rick Perry of Texas. Frazier also has worked as deputy communications director to Perry’s 2010 gubernatorial general election campaign and as deputy press secretary during the primary campaign.

Scott Keller is chief counsel. He was an attorney at Yetter Coleman. He also has served as a clerk to Supreme Court Justice Anthony M. Kennedy. He was a Bristow fellow in the Justice Department’s office of the solicitor general. He also worked as a clerk for the chief judge in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Aseel Rabie has been hired as managing director and associate general counsel in the office of the general counsel at the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association. He also has served as senior counsel in the office of general counsel at the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Nader L. Mamish has been named director of the office of international programs at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Mamish was assistant for operations in the office of the executive director for operations. He also has worked as a radiation specialist at the NRC. He also worked in the office of nuclear materials safety and safeguards and in the office of nuclear security and incident response.

Robert Odawi Porter has joined law and lobbying firm SNR Denton as senior counsel for the firm’s Native American law and policy practice and the public policy and regulation practice. Porter was president of the Seneca Nation of Indians. He has worked as a professor at the University of Kansas and as director of its tribal law and government center. He has also worked as a professor at Syracuse University and as director of its Center for Indigenous Law, Governance & Citizenship.

James Arden Barnett Jr. has been hired at law and lobbying firm Venable as a partner in the firm’s cybersecurity practice and as co-chair of the telecommunications group. Barnett was senior vice president of national security policy at the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies, a think tank. He has served as chief of the public safety and homeland security bureau at the Federal Communications Commission. He has also worked at the Defense Department as a director of education and training. Barnett retired from the Navy with the rank of rear admiral.

Mark Irion has been hired as president of Levick Strategic Communications, a public relations firm. Irion is the founder of communications firm IronRock Strategies. He has worked as a regional CEO and global chairman at public relations firm Grayling. He has also worked as CEO of lobbying firm Dutko Worldwide.

Kenneth L. Bedingfield has been promoted to vice president of business management and chief financial officer for the aerospace systems sector at defense technology company Northrop Grumman Corp. Bedingfield was a corporate vice president, controller and chief accounting officer. He also was the national client leader for the U.S. aerospace and defense audit practice at service and lobbying firm KPMG.

Michael Hardesty has been promoted to corporate vice president, controller and chief accounting officer at Northrop Grumman Corp. Hardesty was vice president of business management and chief financial officer for the information systems sector. He has worked at the company as vice president of internal audit. He also has worked as an audit senior manager at Deloitte & Touche.
