Toyota Starts Its Own Federal PAC

Toyota Motor North America Inc. PAC registered with the Federal Election Commission as a federal PAC based in Washington, D.C.  Group Vice President Tracey Doi, based in Torrance, CA., the headquarters of Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc., is the treasurer. Toyota Motor North America Inc.is owned by Toyota Motor Corporation (Japan). Toyota’s PAC is the first U.S. federal PAC of a Japanese auto manufacturer. Honda, Hyundai, Mazda, Mitsubishi, and Nissan do not have PACs. Until now, most the U.S. employees of Toyota have given directly to candidates and committees, or to the Automotive Free International Trade PAC, or to the Dealers Election Action Committee of the National Automotive Dealers Assn.

Toyota Motor North America Inc. spent $3,740,000 on lobbying in 2012. Their 4th quarter lobbying report indicated they lobbied on the issues of copyright/trademark/patents including H.R. 3889 Promoting automotive repair, trade and sales Act.; automotive industry including H.R. 1687 and S. 1603 Open Fuels Standards Act and S. 1863 and H.R. 1380 New Alternative Transportation to Give American Solutions Act, and S. 1449 Mariah’s Act; financial institutions/investments/securities issues including S. 2009 and H.R. 4104 To Amend the FDIC Act with respect to information to the CFPB; and trade issues including Russian PNTR, EU-US FTA, Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations, and S. 3274 Global Investment in American Jobs Act of 2012.  View Political MoneyLine’s lobbying profile of Toyota.
