The big winners in first quarter fundraising appear to be members of the House Financial Services Committee. The following committee members raised more than $250,000.

Ed Royce (R-Calif.) raised $465,407 ($177,579 from PACs); Rep. Gary Peters (D-Mich.) raised $373,147 ($294,200 from PACs); freshman Rep. Andy Barr (R-Ky.) raised $365,747 ($183,075 from PACs); (more)Rep. Steve Stivers (R-Ohio) raised $340,285 ($150,175 from PACs); freshman Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) raised $333,063 ($111,500 from PACs); Rep. Steve Fincher (R-Tenn.) raised $332,332 ($104,375 from PACs); Rep. Michael Grimm (R-N.Y.) raised $320,860 ($165,250 from PACs); and freshman Rep. Ann Wagner (R-Mo.) raised $288,208 ($174,000 from PACs); Rep. Keith Rothfus (R-Pa.) raised $264,684 ($77,228 from PACs); among other committee members.

In 2011, the House Ethics Committee released a report regarding fundraising around major financial services legislation. A political law briefing was issued today by Venable LLP entitled, “Even the Appearance of Corruption: Caution When Fundraising Around Major Legislation.”
