Facebook Gives $50K for Republican State Races

The Republican State Leadership Committee, a Section 527 account that gives to state races, has become more involved with the Internet, both in fundraising and in spending. However, they still enjoy their in-person events at top venues. The RSLC reported it had receipts of $1,417,241 and disbursements of $491,001 during the month of March. This brings their 2012 receipts up to $4.1 million.

Major donors included U.S. Chamber of Commerce (DC) $125,000; Farmers Group Inc./Farmers Underwriters Assn. (CA) $100,000; Facebook (CA) $50,000; Edison Electric Institute (DC) $50,000; Motion Picture Assn. (DC) $50,000; American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers (DC) $50,000; Nuclear Energy Institute (DC) $50,000; and Select Management Resources LLC (GA) $50,000.

Expenditures included events at Pebble Beach Resort (CA) $20,643; Sheraton Crystal City (VA) $22,897; and Churchill Downs (KY) $9,121. Website development cost $20,375. Twitter online advertising cost $4,500. They paid $4,000 to the American Conservative Union for registration.
