Veterans Group Spends in South Carolina Against Sanford

Votevets.org Action Fund reported it spent $48,656 on April 23 for making independent expenditures against Mark Sanford. The group paid $18,657 to Ralston Lapp Media for productions costs and $29,999 to Waterfront Strategies for broadcast television media buys of an ad titled “Abandoned.” The group states “retired National Guard Colonel Barry Wingrad of South Carolina says he would have been court-martialed had he left the state like Sanford.”

The Democratic-oriented group made more than $2 million in independent expenditures against Republicans and for Democrats in the 2012 elections.

In other filings, the campaign of Mark Sanford reported it had received $5,200 for the Club for Growth PAC. (UPDATE: The Sanford for Congress Committee filed an amended 48-hour contribution notice around 4 p.m. on April 24, which does not list the April 22 $5,200 from the Club for Growth PAC.)
