NuStar Energy PAC Gives Contributions to Policymakers, Including Boehner, Bush and Christie

NuStarPAC, the PAC of pipeline and terminal facility company NuStar Energy LP, reported today that on May 30 it contributed $57,050 to federal and state candidates, including Speaker John A. Boehner, R-Ohio, President George W. Bush’s nephew, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, and other legislators involved with pipeline and energy policy.

NuStarPAC gave $5,000 to Friends of John Boehner  (primary); $5,000 to Friends of John Boehner (general); and $5,000 to the Freedom Project (Boehner’s leadership PAC). NuStar PAC also gave $5,000 to the Ohio Republican Party State Central & Executive Committee.

NuStarPAC gave $2,500 to the George P. Bush Campaign. Bush is the eldest son of Jeb Bush, former governor of Florida. He is the nephew of former President George W. Bush. George P. Bush is running for Texas land commissioner. The PAC also gave $5,000 to the George P. Bush Campaign on Dec. 19, 2012, when Bush had just filed to run for state office but had not identified the specific office sought. The Texas land commissioner manages state-controlled lands and mineral rights properties and is involved with energy policies.

NuStarPAC gave $3,800 to Chris Christie for Governor (R-N.J). The PAC also gave $5,000 to New Jobs PAC in Trenton, New Jersey. New Jobs PAC is a state-level business community PAC in New Jersey.

The PAC also gave to the campaign committees of other legislators involved with energy policy, pipelines, or terminal facilities, such as, Sen. Mark Udall, D-Colo., $1,000; Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, $1,500; Rep. Roger Williams, R-Texas, $2,500; Sen. Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., $2,500; K. Michael Conaway, R-Texas, $1,500; and Rep. Lou Barletta, R-Pa., $1,000.

Barletta and Williams sit on the House Transportation Committee and its subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials. Landrieu and Udall sit on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.
