PACS Give $677K to Congressional Member Organization PAC

At the same time Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has been fundraising among a few health care companies for a nonprofit publicizing the health care law, the PAC of a congressional member organization has been steadily collecting small $5,000 PAC contributions from health care and finance/insurance company PACs since the beginning of the year.

The New Democrat Coalition PAC, a congressional member organization of Democratic members, reported raising $707,380 and spending $479,452 from Jan. 1 to May 27, leaving $339,007 cash on hand. The committee raised $29,875 from individuals and $677,508 from 147 PACs and other committees.

Health and insurance/finance related PACs contributed 52 percent of the PAC money.

The committee gave out $310,000 to 60 candidates and committees. It spent $81,375 on fundraising/consulting services; $10,000 on catering and lodging; and $7,514 on legal and accounting services.
