Boehner Raises $6 Million in Second Quarter

The power of the Speaker of the House extends into the fundraising world and brings in $6 million for Republicans.

Boehner for Speaker committee, the joint fundraising committee of Speaker John A. Boehner, R-Ohio, reported raising $6,048,267 in the second quarter of 2013. The committee spent $1 million on expenses and transferred $5.3 million to the joint fundraising committee’s participants. The committee has $253,100 in cash on hand.

Itemized contributions from Texas totaled $1,155,193; New York $719,900; California $554,295; Connecticut $506,600; Pennsylvania $310,100; Oklahoma $308,600; Florida $308,050; among others.

PACs and other committees contributed $525,499. They included $35,000 from the Kindred Healthcare Inc. PAC; $25,275 from the Alliance for Quality Nursing Home Care PAC; $17,924 from Nustar PAC; $16,000 from the Coalition for Financial Reform; and $15,000 from Group1 Automotive Inc. PAC.

PACs giving $10,000 included: Abive PAC; Acadian Ambulance Employee PAC; America’s Natural Gas Alliance PAC; California Independent Petroleum Association PAC; Cardinal Health Inc. PAC; Consol Energy Inc. PAC; Depository Trust & Clearing Corp. PAC; ENT PAC; H & R Block PAC; Pioneer PAC; Stivers for Congress; and Zeneca Inc. PAC.

Individuals giving included: John (retired banker) and Patricia Grundhofer $100,000; Jerry Grundhofer (retired) $47,600; Joe Craft (executive, Alliance Coal LLC) and JW Craft (executive, Alliance Resource Partners LP) $100,000;  Stephen Bechtel (chairman emeritus, Fremont Group) and Elizabeth $52,800; Fuad El-Hibri (executive, Emergent Biosolutions) and Nancy $50,000; Donald Howard (executive managing director, Standard & Poor’s Rating Services) $50,000; Joseph Parker (chairman, Anchor Stone Co.) $50,000; among others.

Elliott Management contributors gave $225,000, including $25,000 each from Paul Singer, John Pike, Jonathan Pollack, Tea Pollack, Robert Ryan, Daniel Senor, Lee Grinberg, Terry Kassel, and Bonnie Loeb.

Swisher International contributors gave $180,000, including $20,000 each from Helen Benjamin, Cynthia Brighton, Ralph Corasanti, Melissa Ziegler, Peter Ziegler, and William Ziegler.

Paulson & Compnay contributors gave $135,200, including $85,200 from John and Jenica Paulson, and $25,000 each from Micahel Waldorf and James Wong.

Of the proceeds, the National Republican Congressional Committee received $2,490,139. The Friends of John Boehner received $2,243,843. Rep. John Boehner’s PAC, The Freedom Project received $378.981. The Ohio Republican Party received $230,343.

The committee spent $425,842 on fundraising; $234,799 on travel; $36,851 on salaries; and $31,838 on web services.
