FEC Fines Campaigns of Anthony Weiner and Ron Paul

The Federal Election Commission has negotiated civil penalties with two former representatives for their committees’ campaign  finance violations.

The FEC reached a conciliation agreement with Friends of Weiner and the committee treasurer. The committee was the 2012 congressional campaign committee of Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-N.Y. The committee failed to refund $67,700 in general election contributions following Weiner’s withdrawal from the primary. The civil penalty was $20,000. See MUR 6727.
