$3 Million in Super PAC Donations From Bob Perry Before Death

A major contributor to Republican causes wrote at least $3 million in checks to super PACs in the months before his death.

Homebuilder Bob J. Perry of Perry Homes, who died April 13, contributed $2 million on March 1 to the Texans for a Conservative Majority, a hybrid super PAC supporting Republicans. Also giving to the new PAC were John L. Nau III (CEO, Silver Eagle Distributors, Texas) $125,000; and $100,000 from WD Partners LP (Texas) including Ed Bass, Lee Bass and Sid Bass.

Perry also gave $1 million on Feb. 13 to the Senate Conservatives Action super PAC. Also contributing were Richard Uihlein (CEO, Uline Corporation, Ill.) $100,000; and Mountaire Corporation (Ark.) $100,000. The PAC spent $319,797 this year against Sen. Mark Pryor, D-Ark.

Other large contributions reported recently include $250,000 from Richard Masson (horse breeder, Green Lantern Farm, Ky.) to Purple PAC Inc, a super PAC set up by former Republican FEC Commissioner Bradley Smith. Jeffrey Yass (investment executive, Susquehanna International Group, Pa.) also gave $250,000 to the PAC.

Citizens For Conservative Leadership Inc., a Republican-aligned super PAC, reported it received $100,000 from Mary Swendson (self-employed investor, La.).

Kenneth Garshina (principal, Mason Capital Management, N.Y.) gave $250,000 on June 24 to America’s Liberty PAC, a Republican-aligned super PAC.
