A Republican-oriented political action committee has paid for a round of ads opposing the re-election of Sen. Mitch McConnell, the Senate minority leader.

Madison Project
, a PAC run by former Rep. Jim Ryun, R-Kan., reported it paid $27,385 on Aug. 26 as an independent expenditure for media buys opposing Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., who is up for re-election in 2014. The Madison Project paid Universal Media Inc. (Pa.) $27,000 for media buys, and they paid $385 on Aug. 26 to SpotWorks Radio Production for media buys.

The Madison Project has endorsed Republican Matt Bevin in the primary race against Sen. McConnell.

McConnell has already had $263,067 in independent expenditures made against him by the Patriot Majority USA, and $13,322 by the Senate Majority PAC as of 6/30. The Senate Majority PAC made another $269,776 in independent expenditures since then.
