Marissa Mayer’s Yahoo Inc. Gives $50,000 to Republicans

Yahoo Inc. has made a $50,000 contribution to a political committee assisting Republican candidates in state races across the country.

Yahoo Inc., under the leadership of CEO Marissa Mayer, has contributed $50,000 to the Republican State Leadership Committee, a Section 527 organization. The RSLC reported to the Internal Revenue Service it had receipts of $1,080,337 and expenditures of $741,607 during July. The report was just made available by the IRS, which is still working to get their disclosure website back on track.

The major donors to the RSLC in July were Altria Client Services Inc. (Va.) $125,000; Reynolds American (N.C.) $125,000; Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina (S.C.) $100,000; Judicial Confirmation Network (Va.) $75,000; Yahoo Inc. (D.C.) $50,000; and Express Scripts Inc.(Mo.) $50,000; among others.

The committee contributed $75,000 to the Leadership Council in Olympia, Wash. The committee paid $37,696 to Baker Hostetler for legal fees.

While at her previous job at Google Inc. in 2011, Marissa Mayer, as an individual donor, gave $5,000 to Obama for America and $30,800 to the Democratic National Committee.
