Senatorial Campaign Committees Report Positive Financial Balances

The national party senatorial campaign committees of the Democrats and the Republicans each reported their finances were in the black at the end of August fundraising.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) reported receipts of $3.25 million and disbursements of $3.45 million during August, leaving $9.38 million cash on hand, with debts of $8.75 million. The committee raised $2.9 million from individuals, including $1.6 million from those giving $200 or less. PACs and other committees gave $341,000. The committee paid $1.25 million to reduce their outstanding loan.

Major donors included National Basketball Association Commissioner David J. Stern and Diane B. Stern each gave $32,400; Eric Mindich (investment manager, Elson Park Capital Management, NY) and Stacey Beth Mindich each gave $32,400; Richard E. Zuschlag (chairman, Acadian Ambulance Service, LA) gave $32,400; Daniel E. Levin (chairman, The Habitat Company, IL) gave $32,500; among others.

The National Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee (NRSC) reported receipts of $1.86 million and disbursements of $3.39 million during August, leaving $4.78 million cash on hand, with $2.5 million in debts. The committee raised $780,661 in small contributions of $200 or less, and received $124,000 from PACs and other committees. The committee paid $2.5 million to Wells Fargo to reduce their outstanding loans. The committee made a refund of $10,000 to the Cray Family Foundation (KS). The committee also paid $2,457 to Google Inc. for web service as a coordinated party expenditure for Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.

Major donors included New York City Campaign Finance Board member Ms. Kathryn Patterson, who gave $32,400; James Johnson (owner, G.E. Johnson Construction, CO) and Mrs. Laura Johnson, each gave $32,400; Mark Hurley (President/CEO, Fiduciary Network LLC, TX) gave $32,400; Brian J. Higgins (managing partner, King Street Capital, NY) gave $32,400; Dr. Patrick M. Bryne (CEO, Overstock.com, UT) gave $22,200; Alexander M. Cutler (chairman/CEO, Eaton Corporation, OH) gave $32,400; Kimberley Fritts (CEO, Podesta Group, DC) gave $10,000; Douglas Peterson (Standard and Poors, NY) gave $15,000; among others.
