Public Service Commissioner Taps Utility Industry for Campaign Contributions

A state Public Service Commissioner has tapped the utility industry in his state for contributions to his campaign to return to Congress.

Former Rep. Clyde Holloway, R-La., who is now a Louisiana Public Service Commissioner regulating public utilities, is seeking to return to Congress in 2014 as a Representative from the 5th Congressional District. Holloway served in Congress from 1987 to 1993. The seat up for election had been held by Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-La., who resigned to become the Director of the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs. The special election is October 19th.

Holloway’s campaign committee reported it had receipts of $245,598 and disbursements of $100,262, leaving $145,336. Holloway loaned his committee $111,780.

His utility-related donors included $5,000 from American Electric Power; $5,000 from Atmos Energy Corporation PAC; $2,500 from CenterPoint Energy Inc. PAC; $1,000 from CenturyLink Inc. Employees PAC; $5,000 from Cleco PAC (formerly Central Louisiana Electric Company); and $2,000 from NRG Energy Inc. PAC.

Individual utility-related donors included Linda Blair (ITC utility officer) $1,000; Cameron Bready (ITC utility officer) $1,000; John Chavanne (utility consultant) $500; Keith Crump (Cleco) $300; Richard Demint (AT&T) $500; W E Edrington (Baton Rouge Water) $1,000; George Ellis (Ellis Electric) $500; William Fontan (Entergy) $250; Douglas Freese (Entergy) $250; Wade Hoefling (Cleco) $250; Gerald Juneau (City Coin Telephone) $2,600; Rosalyn Juneau (City Coin Telephone) $2,600; Jeane Kenney (Entergy Services) $250; and Alvin Kimble (Star Telephone) $2,600.
