The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee announced Monday that it raised $5.1 million last month — its best off-year November ever.

The DSCC has now raised $48.6 million through the first 11 months of the year and had more than $12 million in cash on hand as of Nov. 30. It paid down its remaining debt last month by $1.25 million and now owes $5 million.

The strong fundraising so far this year will come in handy, as outside groups are already targeting Democratic incumbents on the airwaves. Republicans must net six seats to win back the majority next year, and four Democratic senators are toward the top of the GOP’s target list.

Assisting with the fundraising effort in November were both the president and first lady, who made separate appearances at DSCC fundraisers held outside the Beltway.

“The Koch brothers are aggressively blanketing the airwaves in a few key battleground races, but we are raising the resources to fight back,” DSCC Executive Director Guy Cecil said in a statement.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee has not yet released its November fundraising numbers. Monthly reports are due to the Federal Election Commission on Friday.
