Herseth Sandlin Takes Her Talent to the Bank | Downtown Moves
Democratic Former Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin, who moved back to South Dakota last year to become general counsel at Raven Industries in Sioux Falls, keeps moving farther away from electoral politics. She was just appointed to be a director on the board of CoBank, a cooperative bank.
Herseth Sandlin, who was perhaps the Democrats’ best chance to retain the seat of retiring Sen. Tim Johnson, lost her House re-election bid in 2010 and later went to work for Olsson Frank Weeda Terman Matz in D.C. She moved back home to become Raven’s general counsel and vice president of corporate development in August 2012.
Although Sandlin comes from a family steeped in South Dakota politics (her grandfather was governor, her grandmother a secretary of state and her father was a legislator), is married to former Rep. Max Sandlin, D-Texas, and was frequently cited as a rising national star for the Democrats, her moves don’t seem to suggest a return to politics anytime soon. Then again, she’s only 43, so there’s plenty of time. Just not in this election cycle, apparently.
