A New Flack for the New CAO

A Capitol Hill reporter who once covered the House chief administrative officer is now working for him.

Emily Goodin, a veteran of National Journal’s Hotline and most recently of The Hill, has taken a job with the press shop of the newly-installed CAO Ed Cassidy, she announced in an email to her professional network on Friday.

Her title will be “senior communications specialist,” and she already has a Capitol Hill phone number with the tell-tale first three digits of “226.”

For a reporter inclined to cross over to the “other side,” the CAO’s office is as good a fit as any for someone of Goodin’s expertise. In addition to serving as the features editor for The Hill, Goodin covered the equivalent of Roll Call’s Campus beat: She covered how Capitol Hill runs itself, writing stories about the politics and policies within the congressional support agencies, among other things.
